Six questions before you commit

  1. Minimum runAnd whether it is set by their line or by your packaging supplier — it is usually the packaging.
  2. Who buys the ingredientsIt changes your cash cycle and who carries the risk when a delivery is late.
  3. Tolling rate and its volume bandsCompare quotes at the volume you will actually run, not at the headline number. Nobody uses the same bands.
  4. Changeover rulesEspecially after allergens or citrus. This decides which slots you can realistically get.
  5. Certifications and expiry datesSQF or BRCGS is a gate for most national retailers, and it is the site that holds it, not you.
  6. Typical yieldThe loss lands in your cost per unit rather than on their invoice, so it is your number to care about.
